A compassionate, understanding and non-judgemental approach

Getting help

Something brought you here; you might be struggling with your relationships or a situation in your life; maybe you lost someone; maybe the one you struggle with is yourself. In any way, life can get challenging sometimes; it gets on top of us, and it seems you might have started to realise that something needs to change. But change is difficult and sometimes we need help. It is ok to ask for help.

Counselling can help you explore your issues in a safe way. In counselling, ‘safe’ means being in a space which is confidential, understanding and non-judgemental, and this is what I aim to provide in all of my sessions.

About me

I have a diploma in Therapeutic Counselling awarded by the CPCAB, and I continue to professionally develop myself regularly. Some of my professional development includes: trauma and abuse, HIV, bereavement, cultural awareness, LGBTQ+ issues, issues of race and racism, self-harm and suicide, amongst others. I have been practising counselling since 2014.

I have experience working within the private healthcare sector, the public sector (NHS) and the tertiary sector. I also have experience working within the prison system. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and as such I adhere to their ethical framework. I am passionate about what I do.

I work with people over 18 years old on an individual basis.

Apart from English, I can also work in Spanish and Catalan.

I can offer some flexibility with appointments (for example, for those who work shifts) and I offer holding work for those who are on NHS waiting lists.

How I work:

In my practice I work integratively, using a few different therapeutic approaches, such as Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, CBT, Gestalt, grounding techniques, Mindfulness, etc. I don’t work solely with one approach, as I believe that using a diverse array of techniques, I can better tailor the therapy to your needs.

I believe that an important part of my work is paying attention to the way that you relate to others, and by identifying unhelpful patterns in your life, you can become more self-aware and more self-empowered - thus allowing change to take place.

The first session I offer is an ‘assessment’. This is a first meeting where you explain what you’re struggling with at the moment and I gather some background information. This is an opportunity for you to ask questions and evaluate whether I am someone that you can trust and that you would like to work with; it also gives us the chance to explore what you need from counselling, what you would like to achieve and how I can help you get there.

It’s a journey

Counselling is not easy; becoming vulnerable in front of someone you don't know may take time. Counselling is a process and this is one of the reasons why you might not feel any changes straight away - but give it a chance and this process might change your life for better.
